Your Workshop FAQs 

If you enjoy making your own products. Come sit with us House of Art and Craft. Learn the basics of melt-and-pour soap-making and get a chance to make your own to take home.

You'll Get To:

  • Customize your own soap.
  • Choose your desire scent, color and Botanicals.
  • Choose your mold - Shape round, square or oblong.
  • Kids get to work with animal shape silicone molds.
  • Work with high quality, all-natural soap base.

You Will Take Home:

  • 4 or 6 large bar soaps (depending on your mold).
  • You will leave with the knowledge of how to make melt-and -pour soaps.

This class is suitable for those who have never made soap before therefore is perfect for absolute beginners.

*Recommended for 9 years and over. Please note that this class is not suitable for young children under the age of 9, there are hot liquids involved. Please do not bring your infant to this class.

Fun Fact:

Dried botanicals are known for their versatile abilities like absorbing skin impurities, reducing anxiety, and hydrating skin. You will learn which ones are appropriate to add to your creation and why.

About the Facilitator

House of Art and Craft, owner Steysy is excited to be a part of a new community in the city of Boston. Join her and sit through many of her small group activities such as candle, soap, beard oil making workshops and more. Workshops that will keep your creativity going, during a fun evening. We love sharing our craft with others, an experience you don't want to miss. Your workshop includes everything a beginner or a pro will need to create a beautiful handmade product(s), as well as plenty of time to ask questions to your instructor.

What are the workshop hours and location?

We are thrilled to now be leading public and private soap making  workshops all through the year! Workshops will take place inside our storefront located at The Charles River Speedway, 525 Western Ave Brighton MA 02135 Unit 4E. We offer our Melt and Pour soap workshops twice a month on Sundays 1pm-2:30pm. Looking to host a weekend group! connect with us via email or via our contact us form. We are happy to help.

What is the cancellation policy? 

We offer guests full refunds for cancellations made at least 48 hours ( 2 days) before their scheduled workshop. If a guest needs to cancel within 24 hours (1 day) of their booked class or does not make it to their class, a refund will not be issued. Guests are allowed to reschedule their reservations one time if needed.

What exactly are the soaps made of? 

They are made with natural bases (white or clear) They’re simple, cleansing, and ready to customize. The clear base will have more bright colors, while the white will have more pastel colors. Or bases with additives like shea butter, goat milk, or aloe. 

Can I make my soap fragrance less?  

Yes — we offer a large variety of fragrances for guests to choose from for their melt and pour soaps .Our oils are FDA approved, cruelty free, and skin safe.  But If you’d like your soap to not have any fragrance, that’s okay too! It’s your creation! 

How much is a class and what’s included? 

The class is $65 per person and includes all the materials needed for the class, molds, fragrance of your choice, a step-by-step class on how to pour your soap.

How big are the classes and how long do they last? 

Class sizes often vary depending on how many spots are booked. They can be as large as 6 people or as small as 1 person. The class lasts about 1.5 hours, and the soap can take another 1-2 hrs to set enough. They might not be ready to take home by the end of the class. We ask to pick up the following business day.  These can also be shipped, if you prefer for a fee of $13. Please make sure to check out our  store hours prior to coming to pickup your soap,

Do I need a reservation or can I just walk in? 

You can book online via eventbrite, or book in-person at our store. We recommend booking in advance as our classes can book up quickly! 

Can I bring food and drinks to my class?

We offer soft drinks and complementary wine. Unfortunately, due to limited space on table and not enough time in class, we do not allow food during the experience. The only exception would be if you book a private event, lite snacks can be brought in and eaten while the soaps are drying.

Is there a minimum or maximum class size? 

Classes are typically between 1-8 people, depending on how many bookings that day. There is no minimum requirement to book. For private events, the minimum to reserve is 6 people. 

Can you host the soap at an outside location?  

We are currently only offering events at our physical location. For private event inquiries, email houseofartandcraft@gmail.com 

Is this experience good for kids? 

For everyone’s safety, we recommend ages 10 and up for our workshops.
